Tanglu 4 (Dasyatis kuhlii) Beta released!
Posted by: Matthias Klumpp 7 months, 1 week ago
We are pleased to announce the release of the second development version of Tanglu 4, which includes the KDE, GNOME and Core flavors!
This beta release contains many changes - most notably, imports from Debian are frozen now and we ship with our final versions of KDE and GNOME.
The release also contains the following highlights:
- systemd 229
- Linux 4.6
- KDE Plasma 5.6
- GNOME 3.20
- Many new packages from Debian Testing
When testing Tanglu 4 Beta, please keep in mind that it is a development snapshot release and still contains rough edges. As always, we ship with less packages than Debian does, due to reduced manpower and transitions that have been done. In case you miss any package you need, please file a bug about this. It is likely that the packages will be reintroduced anyway very soon, but by filing a bug you can ensure that the package is taken care of before we release.
If you experience problems with the Alpha release, you might find help on the forums - or simply report a bug. Currently, we have some broken non-core packages in the development suite, you can view a full list of them at qa.tanglu.org/debcheck/brokenpkg_amd64.html.
You can get the development release from the following mirrors:
- [DE] releases.tanglu.org/dasyatis/beta/
- [US] mirrors.ocf.berkeley.edu/tanglu-releases/dasyatis/beta/
- [DE] mirror1.hs-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/releases.tanglu.org/dasyatis/beta/
We welcome new contributors to Tanglu! So if you want to help, feel free to contact us via email to [tanglu-devel %at% lists.tanglu.org], or via IRC on #tanglu-devel (Freenode). There are a couple of non-coding tasks as well, e.g. we would need a new introduction slideshow for our live installer, and some help with the Tanglu web services (e.g. tanglu.org would need some updated content). We will also need a new wallpaper for Tanglu 4 soon.
Have fun with the new development release!Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
